Small Business Trends To Prepare For In 2018
Businesses all need to operate efficiently, but strategies that work for big business might not be the most efficient for smaller operations. A recent article that I read shines some light on what we changes might be in the works, however, for some small businesses. Here are some of the upcoming trends to watch out for in 2018.
Technology is constantly evolving. It’s important to keep up with what is going on and adapt to new methods, hardware, and software. Change isn’t always easy, but it’s necessary to stay on top of advancements to effectively perform the duties of your position.
Balancing Work and Life
Those new to the workforce are accustomed to a more unconventional work schedule. The traditional 9-5 work day isn’t necessarily what graduates are looking for, either. Giving workers the flexibility to get their work done when it’s convenient for them could prove to be beneficial.
Increase employee morale and decrease stress by allowing employees to conduct work outdoors. The fresh air and sunshine can give a much-needed boost for the day. Employees will feel better and be more productive without being stuck in a cubicle all day long.
Job Title Creation
Traditional job titles are fading into the past as recruiters are looking for candidates based on their skills. Individuals are being assigned to positions and teams that best utilize their skills instead of conforming to a traditionally defined role. Projects will coordinate more closely with individual talents and the company’s needs.
Healthier employees create a more productive environment. Conditions such as obesity and mental illness cost employers billions of dollars every year. Implementing programs to help keep employees healthy benefits everyone.
Bringing your own electronics
Many companies are beginning to allow employees to use their own devices for work purposes as long as they are compatible with the required software or apps. Apps and programs are becoming more streamlined to work across multiple platforms for maximum collaboration possibilities.
Team members are going to have more visual interaction with each other, even if they’re not together, through facetime and other collaboration methods. This creates a more personal connection to work together on projects as it’s easier to show ideas to each other and modify documents through shared resources. Collaboration is becoming the key to success in modern workplaces instead of solitary work.
